Chilli 70% Cacao
One of the oldest flavour pairings in Mexican history.
Long before chocolate became sweet, cacao and chilli were enjoyed together throughout Mesoamerica. This blend honours that tradition using ancho and pasilla chillies, two ingredients that have shaped Mexican cuisine for generations.
Flavour Profile : Rich cacao followed by subtle notes of dried fruit, earthiness and a gentle lingering warmth.
Best For : Cold mornings, focused work, outdoor adventures, and those who enjoy a little spice in their daily ritual.
Origin : Cacao sourced from small cacao-growing communities in Tabasco and Chiapas, Mexico.
Preparation : Mix 25g with hot water or your preferred milk. Blend until smooth.
Why We Created It
Cacao and chilli have travelled together for centuries. Long before sugar became part of chocolate, indigenous cultures across Mexico prepared cacao with native spices and chillies.
For this blend, we chose ancho and pasilla chillies not for their heat, but for their depth. Together they create a warming cup that highlights the character of the cacao while honouring one of the oldest flavour combinations in Mexican history.
Acknowledgement
Every cup of cacao carries the work of many hands.
We would like to express our gratitude to La Rifa Chocolatería, the small cacao-growing communities of Tabasco and Chiapas, and all the producers, farmers, fermenters, artisans and families who help keep this tradition alive.
At Frido, we understand that we are only one small part of a much larger ecosystem called CACAO.
Thank you for allowing us to share a piece of this journey with you.
