The rich origins of Cacao saw it as a sacred beverage central to many Mesoamerican rituals and ceremonies; used as a currency worth its weight in gold; and revered as a powerfully sacred medicinal plant used widely across the central and south american regions. Over centuries we have seen it’s colonial discovery and distribution transform it into the more commonly known processed, sweet chocolate, with an undeniable popularity around the world. This success however, has weakened our connection to Cacao’s medicine; it’s true value.
